THE TAILOR'S WORKSHOP

WORKING AS A LIFE PROJECT

If the self-sufficiency of the children of the school, the adult can only be realized through work: the only real opportunity to have a future. If your family has a job is guaranteed food, serenity and self-confidence: only in this way can be born the desire to look ahead, plan and nurture a dream, day by day, for himself and for his family, all 'interior of a community that helps to grow.

To start this process I bought two treadle sewing machines and fabrics (fed up): in a room I made a small tailoring with Felicity, a young woman who knew the first rudiments of cutting and sewing. In short it has become very good: it was accompanied by a girl and together they learned to create the colorful uniforms for schools, that all children wear, then bought by the families of the students.

Within a few years the tailor's shop has grown, from Watamu we moved in Ganda, a larger village and most busiest: we have a small and rudimentary two-room shop where we also manufacture the gaudy clothes of the party (to which women hold it!), in addition to the school uniforms more and more numerous.

Now Felicita is teaching cutting and sewing to six girls, we are very proud of her and of our small business: soon become a recognized school leaving certificate.

My project is to improve and enlarge the store: still missing the floor and would need a solar panel in order to have the light.
